Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Field Electrical Engineer (Remote) based in California. You will support owner representatives, manage field inspections, testing oversight, and coordinate on-site activities across commercial EV charging infrastructure and facility power upgrades.

This role requires 5+ years EPC experience, MV/HV knowledge, and travel up to 75% to US sites. Strong communication, vendor coordination, and proficiency with MS Office and Bluebeam are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 5+ years of field electrical maintenance experience within EPC of commercial projects or similar.
• Identify onsite deficiencies and energization blockers; recommend resolutions.
• Experience with NETA testing vendors and pass/fail assessment.
• Proficient with medium voltage infrastructure and relay testing.
• Coordinate onsite activities during outages; work in small teams.
• Develop and convey findings to public or private entities.
• Microsoft programs: Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word; Smartsheet a plus; Adobe/Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Convey overall project status to clients via discussions, presentations, and reports.
• Manage site schedule, travel, client communications, and project budgets.
• Engage with onsite stakeholders and manage time and effort.
• Travel within the United States to site walks and Owners Rep services (50–75%).
• Inspect and oversee NETA testing and on-site verification of LV, MV, and HV systems.
• Assess transformer testing results and relay calibration knowledge.
• Verify cable testing results and oversee onsite quality assurance.
• Oversee onsite activities to ensure client processes and procedures are followed.
• Coordinate automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.
• Attend customer sites promptly as required.
