Job summary

Terawatt Infrastructure seeks a Field Electrical Engineer to lead construction, commissioning, energization, and operation of EV charging sites across North America.

You will evaluate field data against diagrams, act as the field representative during FAT, and coordinate with utilities, contractors and AHJs. Travel 60%+ is required.

The role demands 5+ years of field experience, strong NEC/IEEE knowledge, and the ability to make real-time technical decisions with senior engineering leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of field experience with electrical construction, commissioning, or startup of medium- and low-voltage systems, including 480V switchboards and distribution equipment.
• Background in electrical engineering, facility engineering, field technician, power distribution, or comparable field experience.
• Working knowledge of at least two of the following: DC fast EV charging infrastructure, Power electronics, Clean energy electrification, Substations, MV distribution, Protective relaying and control, Facility maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate field conditions against approved single-line diagrams, panel schedules, three-line diagrams, and site design, with review from senior engineering at key milestones.
• Serve as the owner's field representative during FAT and functional testing of OFE components such as switchgear and distribution equipment; assess results against acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate site energization readiness and make the final go/no-go engineering call, escalate ambiguous or high-risk cases.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and hardware issues on active sites with Field Service.
• Analyze deviations and as-built changes for engineering significance and determine design revision needs.
• Ensure commissioning-to-operations handoff with turnover packages, maintenance schedules and warranty terms.
• Interpret NEC, UL, IEEE and local codes during field reviews.
• Manage field engineering activity across multiple concurrent sites with competing schedules.
• Report progress, issues, and risks to management.
