Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Technical Consultant for the Rapid Diagnostics division based in Austin, TX, with a field-based remote role. You will deliver on-site training for infectious disease diagnostic products and support new account implementations, ensuring successful adoption of Abbott solutions.

You will guide verification studies, help optimize workflows, and lead connectivity implementations while collaborating with sales, technical, and marketing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Nursing, or related field.
• Registered Medical Technologist or Registered Nurse in state of residence.
• Minimum 3 years as MT in clinical lab or RN in critical care/infectious disease.
• Minimum 1 year in implementation/POCT or diagnostic support.
• Experience using Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook.
• Ability to travel up to 75%, including short-notice and weekend travel.

Responsibilities

• Deliver on-site technical and clinical training for infectious disease diagnostic products, including instruments and rapid tests.
• Support new account implementations, evaluations, and activations to ensure successful adoption of Abbott solutions.
• Guide customers through verification studies and testing processes while supporting CLIA, CAP, COLA, and TJC requirements.
• Serve as a trusted technical resource, helping customers optimize workflows and product utilization.
• Lead POC Link connectivity implementations and support integration with customer IT environments.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues and recommend solutions to improve operations.
• Educate customers on testing trends, workflow improvements, testing volumes, and data-driven insights.
• Partner with sales teams to support key accounts, customer retention, and growth opportunities.
• Conduct workflow assessments in clinics and hospitals to improve turnaround times and testing efficiency.
