Job summary

MDS Staffing is seeking a Field Application Engineer to support regional sales teams across Texas and into Canada. You will interpret customer requirements, recommend embedded computing solutions, and present FPGA/DSP and RF capabilities to drive pre-sales engagement.

You will bridge customers, sales, and internal teams, delivering technical assistance throughout the lifecycle and ensuring customer success in aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
• Minimum 3+ years in Field Applications Engineering, Technical Sales Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent.
• Strong technical understanding of hardware/software integration and embedded computing systems.
• Experience gathering customer requirements and translating into technical requirements or product recommendations.
• Proven ability to provide technical sales support and collaborate with regional sales managers.
• Experience presenting technical information, product capabilities, and solutions to customers.
• Strong understanding of FPGA/DSP-based embedded hardware.
• Strong understanding of RF and analog technologies.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused, self-motivated, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness and ability to travel 50%+ including overnight and multi-day trips.
• Ability to travel regularly, often two weeks per month depending on customer demand.

Responsibilities

• Support regional sales managers by understanding customer requirements and recommending technical solutions.
• Present products and technology roadmaps to customers.
• Act as the technical bridge between customers, sales, and internal teams during pre-sales engagements.
• Provide ongoing technical assistance throughout the customer relationship.
