Job summary

Merck is seeking a Field Access Manager to serve as a subject-matter expert on patient access issues for HCPs and HCOs, working remotely across an assigned geography. You will educate providers on access processes, reimbursement, and patient support programs while ensuring HIPAA compliance.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with Field Sales, Market Access, and hub operations to optimize patient access and coordinate with payer contacts, supporting timely access to therapies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Minimum of 7 years’ experience in patient support, Pharmaceutical/healthcare sales or operations, or reimbursement support.
• Strong knowledge of health insurance structures (Medicare Part B, Medicaid, commercial) and related access processes.
• Expertise in pharmaceutical compliance and HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
• Exhibit competent understanding of hub and patient support activities.
• Willingness to travel 20–25% and operate in a remote environment.
• Must reside in the New England South assigned territory.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple sales representatives, leadership, and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide information and education to HCP accounts on patient access, including benefit verification, prior authorization, appeals and patient support programs.
• Analyze access trends and identify barriers to patient access.
• Partner cross-functionally to address access barriers and support patient satisfaction.
• Build collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless patient access to therapy.
• Monitor payer trends and provide access information to HCP offices.
• Educate field teams on access programs and payer processes, following approved directions.
• Escalate and coordinate on access issues with hub vendor and third parties.
• Educate HCP offices on hub programs, patient support offerings, and hub resources.
• Demonstrate knowledge of access resources and payer policies; attend National and Regional Meetings.
