Job summary

Carrington Mortgage Services seeks a Loss Mitigation FHA Claims Specialist to prepare, file, and follow up on FHA home retention claims in line with investor and CMS guidelines. This role offers remote work from home and targets a pay range of $23.00 to $26.00 per hour.

You will file HUD claims timely, perform loan level reconciliations, document actions in the system, and keep supervisors informed of trends. The position values accuracy and strong communication under pressure.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years mortgage servicing default experience preferred.
• FHA claims experience preferred.
• Understanding the loss mitigation and claims process.
• Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and time management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and changing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and quality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file HUD claims timely and accurately according to guidelines.
• Follow up semi-daily on outstanding claim proceeds.
• Perform loan level reconciliations for final claim proceeds and corrections.
• Provide posting instructions for all claim proceeds within 24 hours.
• Review and ensure timely completion of all scheduled steps.
• Input completion dates when actions occur.
• Obtain approval and adjust dates when steps cannot be completed.
• Daily routine follow-up on progress.
• Keep supervisor informed of trends and problems.
• Document servicing actions, delays, and conversations in notes.
• Ensure all claim documents are imaged timely.
• Maintain HUD audit file.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
