Job summary

Maximus is seeking an Eligibility Verification Specialist to support the FEHB Protection Act Compliance and Verification Program for enrollees, providing inbound telephone support for dependent eligibility verification. The role focuses on customer service across channels, Portal access, and documentation in the OPM FEHB system.

Remote position is available within 50 miles of McAllen, TX; U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain required clearances are prerequisites.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent with 6 months of customer service experience.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability to obtain Moderate Risk Public Trust (5C) suitability determination.
Must be able to pass Government background investigations, fingerprinting, credentialing, and security training requirements.

Responsibilities

Provides customer service for basic and routine inquiries via multiple channels (phone, email, web chats, letters).
Responds to routine questions and routes to published materials or senior staff as needed.
Assists enrollees with Portal access, login issues, and document uploads using approved scripts.
Authenticates callers before sharing case information and protects PII/PHI.
Documents each interaction in the OPM FEHB Protection Act Portal or approved system.
Escalates complex questions, language/accessibility needs, and potential fraud indicators.
Meets attendance, schedule adherence, call quality, and documentation accuracy standards.
