Job summary

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a Pre-Sales Systems Engineer to support Federal/National Security accounts aligned to Maryland, D.C., and Virginia. You will provide pre-sales leadership, design secure networking solutions, and lead POC engagements in collaboration with account teams.

Role requires active TS/SCI clearance (CI Poly preferred), US citizenship, and willingness to travel up to 25% to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of pre-sales, systems engineering, or networking experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Federal, DoD, IC, or classified customers.
• Must possess active TS/SCI clearance at time of hire; CI Poly preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Expertise in routing, switching, security, and data center networking.
• Knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, EVPN/VXLAN).
• Experience designing and troubleshooting Layer 2/3 networking in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre-sales technical leadership for Federal/National Security customers.
• Design and position secure networking solutions across campus, WAN, data center, and mission-critical environments.
• Lead customer presentations, workshops, demonstrations, and PoC engagements.
• Partner with Account Managers to qualify opportunities and drive technical strategy through closure.
• Build trusted advisor relationships with customer stakeholders in highly secure environments.
• Translate customer requirements into scalable HPE Networking solutions.
• Collaborate with internal engineering, services, channel, and sales teams to deliver winning solutions.
• Maintain strong competitive knowledge of networking vendors and market trends.
• Support account planning, pipeline development, and long-term territory growth.
