Job summary

SMX is seeking an experienced Federal Financial Business Analyst to join our client service delivery team. This full-time, 100% remote role supports the CFO Control Tower Budget and Spend solution for federal customers, requiring a Public Trust clearance.

You will collaborate with budget SMEs, designers, and developers to enhance planning, reporting, and data models across SAC-based deployments. The role emphasizes understanding federal budgeting processes, documenting requirements, facilitating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, information systems, data analytics, public administration, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in federal financial management, business process analysis, data analytics/reporting, management/tech consulting, or operations analysis/strategic planning.
• Experience with federal government financial data and processes.
• Experience with data analysis, reconciliation, and exception resolution.
• Strong understanding of business process improvement methodologies.
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
• Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of client objectives, financial operations, and priorities.
• Analyze and document business processes, workflows, requirements, and decision-making needs.
• Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to identify process improvements.
• Recommend process, technology, and data solutions to improve efficiency and outcomes.
• Review policies, data structures, and procedures for impacts on business and financial processes.
• Utilize BI tools to maximize value of client data assets.
• Guide clients in adopting solutions that improve operational effectiveness and reporting.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure alignment of business, data, and technology requirements.
• Create quality documentation across SDLC and end-user training.
• Develop test plans and manage test execution.
