Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Health Information Management required.
• Certifications from AAPC or AHIMA preferred.
• 7+ years inpatient coding experience in an acute care setting.
• Experience with revenue cycle processes and CDI.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT and HCPCS.

Responsibilities

• Review complex inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Ensure correct code selection per Official Coding Guidelines and regulations.
• Code high-dollar and long-stay cases across patient types.
• Maintain continuing education and research coding topics.
• Collaborate with CDI and Quality teams to match DRG and Medicare DRGs.
• Communicate with clinicians regarding disease processes for accurate coding.
• Support audits and meetings related to coding accuracy.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical coding standards.
