Job summary

University of Texas at Austin is seeking an Export Control Analyst to support its Office of Research Support and Compliance. The role focuses on export control reviews, regulatory classifications, and compliance analyses across research activities and international collaborations.

You will work closely with the Export Control Officer to ensure adherence to US export control laws, ITAR/EAR, and related regulations while supporting teaching, research, and international engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 2 years of export control experience.
• Strong ability to understand, follow, and document the Order of Review for jurisdiction and classification.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations, policies, and guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with compliance software or databases and ability to work across multiple reviews.

Responsibilities

• Perform export control reviews in collaboration with the Export Control Officer, including intake, screenings, visa reviews, and access considerations.
• Classify items under USML/ECCN and related regulations, coordinating with subject-matter experts.
• Support monitoring, audits, and documentation of compliance actions and license conditions.
• Assist with policy implementation, training, and outreach to faculty, staff, and students.
• Monitor regulatory developments and summarize changes for internal use.
