Job summary

The University of Virginia in Charlottesville seeks a compliance-focused professional to conduct initial reviews of export control and research security requests and to triage international activities.

You will perform restricted party screening, review international collaborations, travel, and shipments for export control concerns, and help prepare TCPs and related compliance records. The role supports training and guidance materials for the university community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, International Affairs, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Law, Research Administration, International Business, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial reviews and triage export control and research security requests.
• Review international travel, visitors, shipments, hiring, collaborations, and activities for export control concerns.
• Perform restricted party screening and document results.
• Review international collaborations, visiting scholars, foreign national activities, and sponsored research for compliance requirements.
• Review travel and shipments for export control considerations and sanctions.
• Escalate complex matters to senior compliance personnel.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and case management files.
• Prepare correspondence, compliance documentation, reports, and metrics.
• Assist in developing TCPs, export documentation, and related forms.
• Support training and development of export control programs.
