Job summary

UT Austin is seeking an Export Control Analyst to support the institution’s export control program, performing reviews, classifications, and regulatory analyses for research and administrative activities.

You will collaborate with the Export Control Officer to ensure compliance with U.S. export controls, ITAR/EAR, and sanctions regulations while supporting teaching, research, and international engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 2 years of export control jurisdiction/classification experience.
• Ability to understand, follow, and document the order of review for jurisdiction and classification.
• Ability to interpret and apply complex regulations, policies, and guidance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for non-experts.
• Proficiency with compliance software, databases or case-management systems.
• Willingness to learn cutting-edge technologies and item specifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform export control reviews in collaboration with the Export Control Officer.
• Conduct technical classifications under USML, ECCN, ITAR/EAR/OFAC.
• Assist with post-approval compliance, monitoring, and audits.
• Develop and update export control guidance and training materials.
• Monitor regulatory changes and summarize impact for internal stakeholders.
• Support the Export Control Officer on special projects.
