Job summary

Merck is seeking a US Executive Director of Medical Affairs, Payer & Health Systems Oncology (PHS EDMA, Oncology) to lead payer and access strategies within the US Oncology portfolio. This role balances strategic payer medical needs with field medical strategy and execution across the Value & Implementation organization.

The position requires MD/PhD/PharmD with extensive oncology experience, strong leadership, and deep knowledge of HEOR, payer dynamics, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree required with ability to lead scientific/medical colleagues at all levels.
• Pharmaceutical industry or payer experience (at least 7 years), preferably in oncology.
• Five years of front-line field medical leadership in pharma or payer industry with scientific exchange focus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior USMA leader, set strategic direction for PHS and oversee field medical MAD team.
• Oversee US Payor & Access Teams (PAT) and ensure alignment with CMAP and V&I plans.
• Lead strategic insight collection and share actionable insights to refine medical strategies.
• Manage annual PHS Oncology budget and ensure compliance with approvals.
• Coordinate and ensure execution of scientific congress responsibilities and field priorities.
