Job summary

Merck is seeking an Executive Director of Medical Affairs, Payer & Health Systems Oncology (PHS EDMA, Oncology) in the US Value & Implementation organization. The role balances strategic payer priorities with field medical strategy to advance oncology programs and access initiatives.

The EDMA will guide the US payer engagement plan, coordinate with regional teams, and ensure alignment with CMAP goals, scientific exchanges, and healthcare ecosystem monitoring while managing cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) with leadership experience in medical affairs.
• At least 7 years in pharma payer experience, preferably oncology.
• 5 years frontline field medical leadership leading teams with US payor engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead Payer & Health Systems Oncology strategy and field execution.
• Oversee US payor insights integration into CMAPs and V&I Plans.
• Manage budget and approvals for program-related expenses.
• Ensure compliant operations across oncology portfolio.
