Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an EWP Designer to develop plans for engineered wood products. You will translate blueprints into accurate, fabrication-ready drawings and ensure designs meet standards. The role requires reading architectural and structural plans and collaborating with production teams to keep projects on schedule.

Remote position, reporting from Lexington and Charlotte facilities. Strong math, geometry, and communication skills are essential, with proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledgeable in basic mathematics and geometry.
• Knowledgeable in reading architectural and structural plans.
• Ability to analyze, trouble shoot and problem solve.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Creates design illustrations based from blueprints to produce working drawings for fabrication.
• Completes and finalizes designs for production and assembly.
• Evaluates designs to ensure that design standards are being met.
• Reviews and analyzes specifications, blueprints, engineered drawings and related designs to determine factors affecting design of the wall, truss and engineered wood components.
• Communicates with production teams, customers and Store Managers to ensure designs are accurate throughout the process. Assists stores in responding to questions/concerns from customers.
