Job summary

Carter Lumber seeks an EWP Designer to create working drawings for fabrication from customer blueprints, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of designs for walls, trusses and engineered wood components.

The role requires reading architectural and structural plans, performing basic geometry calculations, and communicating with production teams and store managers to resolve questions and ensure design readiness. Remote position reporting from Lexington and Charlotte facilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic construction concepts.
• Ability to perform basic mathematics and geometry.
• Ability to read architectural and structural plans.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Creates design illustrations from blueprints to produce working drawings for fabrication.
• Finalizes designs for production and assembly.
• Evaluates designs to ensure standards are met.
• Reviews specifications and drawings to determine design factors for walls, trusses, and engineered wood components.
• Communicates with production teams and store managers to ensure designs are accurate throughout the process.
