Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an EWP Designer to design plans for engineered wood products. This remote role reports from our Lexington and Charlotte facilities, coordinating with customers and production teams to ensure accurate drawings and timely delivery.

The designer will create, review, and finalize working drawings from blueprints, evaluate designs against standards, and assist with customer questions throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Knowledgeable in the basic aspects of construction.
• Competency in basic mathematics and geometry.
• Ability to read architectural and structural plans.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Remote role reporting from Lexington and Charlotte facilities.

Responsibilities

• Creates design illustrations based from blueprints to produce working drawings for fabrication.
• Completes and finalizes designs for production and assembly.
• Evaluates designs to ensure that design standards are being met.
• Reviews and analyzes specifications, blueprints, engineered drawings and related designs to determine factors affecting design of the wall, truss and engineered wood components.
• Communicates with production teams, customers and Store Managers to ensure designs are accurate throughout the process.
• Assists stores in responding to questions/concerns from customers.
