Job summary

GAI Consultants is seeking an Environmental Specialist 1 to support Phase I and II ESAs and hazardous waste due diligence, with field compliance monitoring, based out of our Canton, OH / Jackson, MI area but this role is remote.

The position includes travel to project sites regionally in the Upper Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, with writing and regulatory analysis, plus QA/QC duties for GAI and clients.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical writing ability.
• Ability to utilize GPS or GPS-enabled devices to collect data tied to project location.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel; familiarity with databases and reporting tools (Access, SQL).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
• Flexible; regional travel 2–5 hours round trip, 1–3 days/week.
• Basic knowledge of Phase I/II ESA and hazardous waste due diligence investigations.

Responsibilities

• Perform Phase I and II ESAs and hazardous waste due diligence investigations.
• Research applicable federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations.
• Field monitoring of erosion and sediment controls on construction projects.
• Review permits, plans, and E&S controls; prepare monitoring reports.
• Maintain QA/QC standards and follow GAI client procedures.
