Job summary

Vanguard College Prep is seeking an experienced English instructor to empower students through engaging, college-prep curricula that aim for top-tier college readiness. You will teach small groups, promote critical reading and writing, and help students realize their potential.

You will track growth across Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum, update schedules, and model professionalism with timely communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in humanities (US Schools) (Master’s or higher preferred)
• Teaching experience in English and/or experience working in a college-level Writing Center (1+ years)
• Demonstrated academic excellence (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
• Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction
• Commitment to work during Hours of Operations: Mondays and Fridays Closed; Tue–Thu 1:30 pm CST–9:30 pm CST; Sat–Sun 9:30 am CST–5:30 pm CST

Responsibilities

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small groups of students in their English core skills to promote long-term understanding and top scores in college readiness exams (ACT & SAT)
• Track Growth: Track your students’ progress as they move through Vanguard’s curriculum
• Manage and Model: Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold students accountable for assignments, and model professionalism
• Innovate: Spearhead development and evolving lesson plans and curriculum
• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students through the college application process
