As a member of our team, you will teach English, track growth through a multi-phase curriculum, and design engaging, real-world lesson plans. The role emphasizes mentorship, collaboration, and a student-centered approach to learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in humanities from US Schools (English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Publishing, etc.).
• Master's degree or higher preferred.
• 1+ years of teaching English or college-level Writing Center experience.
• Demonstrated academic excellence (3.5+ GPA).
• Strong verbal skills and mastery of the English language.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites.
• Access to a reliable internet connection and a workspace with minimal noise/distraction.
• Commitment to work during Hours of Operations: Mondays and Fridays closed; Tue-Thu 1:30 pm CST–9:30 pm CST; Sat-Sun 9:30 am CST–5:30 pm CST.

Responsibilities

• Teach and Inspire: Instruct small groups of students in their English core skills to promote long-term understanding of topics and top scores in their college readiness exams (ACT & SAT).
• Track Growth: Track your students' progress as they move through Vanguard's unique multi-phase curriculum, engaging students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities along the way.
• Manage and Model: Maintain and update student lesson schedules, hold them accountable for assignments, and model professionalism along with strong organizational skills through timely student communication.
• Innovate: Spearhead the development and creative execution of ever-evolving lesson plans and curriculum.
• Mentor: Guide middle and high school students with empathy and an innate understanding that the college application process is becoming increasingly competitive and stressful.
