Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an Engineering Supervisor - Physical Electrical for a growing company in the Power Delivery and Electrical Engineering industry. This remote role leads a team of engineers and designers in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical substations across the United States.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design of electrical substations.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to organize multiple physical design assignments and competing priorities while producing accurate deliverables on time.
• Experience managing physical design projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills with a proven record of positive client interactions.
• Experience creating and reviewing substation design drawings.
• Proficiency with current software applications used to perform substation design work.
• Ability to work successfully with remotely located team members.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of designers in the design, development, installation, and maintenance of electrical substations.
• Manage the execution of physical design projects of all sizes, including resource planning, risk management, and project delivery.
• Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and manage career development for designers.
• Prepare or oversee the preparation of cost estimates and schedules for physical design projects.
• Allocate direct reports effectively to meet project demands.
• Work closely with project managers and design managers to ensure project responsibilities are executed efficiently and to high standards.
• Communicate staffing needs to design managers as they arise.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to direct reports, fostering professional growth and ensuring best practices are followed.
• Oversee the preparation of physical designs and ensure timely resolution of design issues.
