Job summary

Affirm, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering (Marketplace Performance) for a Remote US role. You will set technical strategy and own critical, business-impacting projects while collaborating with product management, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and well-understood trade-offs.

You will lead a team focused on building scalable backend systems with Python or Kotlin, and you will drive code quality, architecture decisions and on-call readiness across the team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark and Kubernetes.
• Proven ability to deliver major features with clear technical plans.
• Strong communication across product, design and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team on a year-long horizon and tie it to business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design and analytics to ensure sustainability and manage risks.
• Advocate for technical solutions and operational processes as a force-multiplier.
• Own team operations, monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks and on-call readiness.
• Foster quality and ownership by setting review and design standards and sharing them broadly.
• Develop talent by providing feedback and leading by example.
