Affirm is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to define and lead technical excellence across core consumer experiences, starting with marketplace and search. You will partner with engineering leaders to shape strategy, align cross-functional teams, and deliver scalable, reliable solutions that drive customer value.

This role demands deep backend and frontend fluency, strong leadership, and a track record of delivering large-scale features.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience across the stack with backend architectural improvements.
• Proven track record leading critical projects across engineering teams.
• Experience developing and implementing technical strategy that improves reliability and responsiveness.
• Equivalence of practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical direction and long-term roadmap for marketplace, search, ads, and app experiences.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement technical excellence aligned with business outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of ownership and accountability across teams.
• Design and extend core platform components to enable new products and features.
