Job summary

Propel in Downtown Brooklyn is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager and Tech Lead for the Marketplace team. You will set the technical vision and design systems to connect millions of users with offers from top brands across grocery, healthcare, telecoms, finance, and more.

You will coach 3-5 engineers, drive a remote-first culture, and enable cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and data. The role blends management and IC work with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing and developing web or mobile applications.
• 2+ years managing engineers in a startup remote-first environment.
• Strong AI skills and the ability to think systematically about when and where to use AI.
• Growth mindset, curiosity, and interest in Marketplace operations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Experience with or knowledge of government services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set technical vision for the marketplace team and build a system serving helpful offers to users.
• Manage and coach 3-5 reports across sub-teams and help them advance in their careers.
• Develop team-level processes to foster consistency and collaboration in a remote-first culture.
• Sustain cross-functional collaboration between engineering, product, design, and data.
• Ensure smooth onboarding for new engineers and iterate on processes.
