Job summary

VitalSource Technologies is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the Launch Engineering team in a remote role. You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and collaborate with product management to deliver high-quality features while driving AI-assisted development and best practices.

You will oversee reliability, security, and scalable engineering processes, with cross-functional communication to align delivery with business goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering.
• 2+ years in a leadership role with direct reports.
• Deep understanding of modern web stacks and security models.
• Experience with Ruby, Python, TypeScript and Rails/FastAPI/React/MySQL.
• Experience with asynchronous messaging and background processing.
• Strong written and verbal communication across diverse audiences.
• Agile/Scrum experience.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach a diverse team of software engineers.
• Provide architectural guidance and oversight for team services and delivery.
• Drive AI-assisted development adoption and responsible practices.
• Enforce best practices in software engineering, security, and CI/CD.
• Ensure system reliability, monitoring, and incident management.
• Collaborate with product management to define roadmaps and priorities.
• Contribute hands-on to architecture and code when needed to unblock the team.
