Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking an Engineering Manager / Technology Lead to guide remote software teams delivering K12 focused digital learning platforms. You will partner with product and design, drive architecture decisions, and ensure high availability and excellent customer outcomes.

You will lead agile teams across time zones, supervise feature development, and advocate experimentation with GenAI and cloud-native approaches to transform education technology.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership experience driving technology strategy and innovation.
• Experience building and leading a global workforce across time zones.
• Strong background modernizing architectures and enabling hybrid cloud with APIs.
• Expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) and cloud-native tooling.
• Proven track record of scalable, secure, high-availability systems with CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Apply Agile methodologies to drive iterative development and rapid time-to-market.
• Collaborate with engineering to define user stories and prioritise backlog.
• Act as player/coach, delivering solutions and owning team outcomes.
• Communicate across product, engineering and design teams.
• Engage with customers and stakeholders to align on technology options.
• Monitor product performance and iterate based on data and feedback.
• Design and implement scalable features and ensure 24/7 reliability.
• Stay current with emerging tech and integrate into roadmaps.
