Job summary

Cengage Group is seeking an Engineering Manager / Technology Lead to drive delivery of innovative learning platforms for K12 education. You will lead remote software teams, architect scalable systems, and partner with product and design to improve user engagement.

You will manage agile teams, own product development, and ensure 24/7 reliability while adopting emerging GenAI and cloud-native technologies.

Qualifications

5+ years of leadership experience in technology strategy and innovation.
Experience building, motivating and leading a global workforce across time zones.
Strong track record modernizing monolithic architectures and enabling cloud-native APIs.
Expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudFormation), Kubernetes, Docker and IaC.
Proven ability to deliver scalable, secure, high-availability enterprise systems with CI/CD and automated testing.
Experienced with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
Knowledge of generative AI concepts and practical GenAI integration.

Responsibilities

Apply agile methods to drive iterative development and rapid time-to-market.
Collaborate with engineering to define user stories and backlog priorities.
Act as player/coach, owning team delivery and solution implementation.
Communicate clearly across product, design, and engineering teams.
Engage with partners and customers to align technology with needs.
Monitor product performance, analyze data, and conduct post-release evaluations.
Design and implement features with scalable, 24/7 platform reliability.
Stay current with emerging technologies and incorporate into roadmaps.
Foster a high-performance, transparent culture focused on accountability.
