Job summary

Buoy Software is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a fully distributed team of 6-8 engineers building critical software for the blood collection industry. You will own delivery from requirements to Production, balancing current build with future scale, while safeguarding the team's well-being and driving continuous improvement.

You will partner with product managers, tech leads, and engineering leadership to align strategy and drive high-quality, scalable software.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in software engineering, including 2+ years in a leadership or mentoring role.
• Proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering high-quality products.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails, AWS, and modern CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on fluency with AI development tools and driving responsible AI adoption in production.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery end to end: from requirements through Production and post-release performance.
• Secure clear team commitments and proactively communicate deliverables to stakeholders.
• Manage a distributed engineering team with regular 1:1s, feedback, and performance reviews.
• Set norms for AI-assisted development and ensure security/compliance for AI-generated code.
• Collaborate with product managers to prioritize features and technical initiatives.
