Job summary

ICF is seeking an Energy Markets Consultant / Senior Consultant to join our Power Markets practice. In this role, you will work with leading energy industry participants to evaluate investment opportunities, forecast market outcomes, assess risks, and develop strategies in an increasingly complex energy environment.

You will contribute to projects involving power market forecasting, asset valuation, transmission and interconnection analysis, renewable energy development, battery energy storage

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s in a quantitative field (Engineering, Economics, Finance, Operations Research, Mathematics, Energy Systems, Statistics)
• Bachelor’s/Master’s with 2–4+ years (Consultant) or 5–8+ years (Senior Consultant) in energy markets or related fields
• Experience with Excel and quantitative analysis tools
• Experience with Python, R, SQL, or similar languages

Responsibilities

• Perform quantitative, economic, and technical analyses of U.S. power markets using market models, tools, and datasets
• Develop long-term forecasts of energy, capacity, ancillary services, and renewables outcomes
• Evaluate investments in renewable energy, storage, conventional generation, transmission, and new resources
• Analyze market fundamentals: load growth, fuel prices, congestion, retirements, policy changes, new resources
• Support interconnection and transmission analyses including queue activity and project economics
• Assist with asset valuations, project financing analyses, and M&A support
• Collaborate to enhance forecasting methodologies, databases, and tools
• Prepare client presentations and market insights for diverse audiences
• Support business development through market research and proposals
