Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking experienced Emergency Department Medical Coders for a 100% remote, long-term contract. You will review ED records, assign ICD-10-CM codes, apply CPT/HCPCS, and determine E/M levels using ACEP guidelines.

Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS and EPIC is required, with remote work experience highly preferred. The role offers a stable workload, collaborative leadership, and opportunity for coding quality improvement initiatives while supporting a large healthcare

Qualifications

• Active AAPC or AHIMA certification.
• 2+ years of Emergency Department facility coding experience.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Injection and infusion coding experience required.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• EPIC experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review ED medical records and assign ICD-10-CM codes.
• Apply CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers accurately.
• Assign E/M levels per guidelines and ACEP methodologies.
• Analyze documentation for complete, accurate coding.
• Review injections and infusions for proper charge capture.
• Follow CMS, NCCI, and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and request clarifications.
• Maintain compliance with payer policies and regulations.
• Participate in coding quality reviews and audits.
• Collaborate with leadership and client teams to resolve issues.
