The role emphasizes a five‑day turnaround, collaboration with chart completion, physician queries, and compliance with state and federal guidelines; RHIT/RHIA/CCS or CPC/CIC/COC or related certifications are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years' coding experience or equivalent education/experience.
• Certified as RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P/CPC/CIC/COC/CIRCC/RCC/ROCC certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews available Epic documentation to identify all billable ED procedures requiring facility and/or professional fee coding.
• Ensures coded services, charges and documentation meet guidelines.
• Collaborates with Chart Completion to follow up on charts pending clarification with providers.
• Queries physicians/departments to verify services and improve coding accuracy.
• Maintains five-day turnaround times for emergency coding based on service or discharge date.
• Performs special projects and other assigned duties.
