Job summary

AES Corporation in the United States is seeking a Senior Engineer for High Voltage projects across the country, with a focus on the Western portfolio. You will oversee design from EPC firms, ensure interconnection and reliability requirements, and coordinate with utilities and internal stakeholders.

The role requires 7+ years in technical design (substation or transmission), strong grid integration knowledge, and leadership in project engineering.

Qualifications

• B.S. Electrical Engineering or other engineering disciplines.
• 7+ years of technical design experience for Senior.
• Experience in substation design (Physical or P&C) and transmission line design.
• Strong understanding of grid integration requirements for renewables.
• PE licensure preferred in AZ, CA, HI, NV, or UT.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with HV EPCs and utilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EPC contractor engineering design and construction activities for HV substations and transmission lines (35kV to 500kV).
• Establish and maintain relationships with HV contractors and utilities.
• Review Substation EPC designs for interconnection, reliability, and standards compliance.
• Coordinate power system studies (load flow, short circuits, harmonics, TOV, insulation coordination).
• Coordinate with Interconnection Providers to meet Transmission Provider requirements and AES specs.
• Lead project engineering discussions among HV EPCs, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
