Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Substation/Transmission Engineer to oversee high voltage projects across the United States, with emphasis in the Western region. You will manage EPC design/construction, ensure interconnection compliance, and guide studies for renewables and data centers.

The role requires 4+ years of HV design experience, strong leadership, and coordination across internal teams and external EPCs. Remote work is possible for qualified candidates in Pacific/Mountain time zones.

Qualifications

• B.S. Electrical Engineering or higher with emphasis on Power Systems.
• PE Licensure in any listed states is preferred.
• Minimum 4+ years of technical design experience (substation, transmission, or HV studies).
• Experience coordinating with HV EPCs, utilities, and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EPC contractor engineering design and construction for HV substations and transmission lines (35kV–500kV).
• Coordinate with utilities and internal teams to meet interconnection requirements.
• Review designs for compliance with standards and project documentation.
• Lead power system studies, load flow, short circuit, harmonics, and insulation coordination.
• Support substation commissioning and testing with utility/ISO.
