Job summary

Jabil is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design for data center infrastructure, including power and cooling systems. You will design robust metal structures, frames, enclosures, and support systems, and perform advanced FEA under varied loading conditions.

The role requires 8+ years in mechanical design with CAD/FEA expertise, experience in data centers or industrial power/cooling products, and strong cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of mechanical design and fabrication experience in data center, industrial, or power systems environments.
• Proficiency with CAD tools and FEA software (SolidWorks/Creo/InVentor; ANSYS/Abaqus).
• Strong knowledge of metal fabrication processes including welding, sheet metal forming, and machining.
• Experience with structural design for heavy equipment and thermal/airflow considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design and integrate hydronic systems including pumps, piping networks, valves, and heat exchangers for data center cooling.
• Perform structural analysis to validate integrity under static, dynamic, seismic, and thermal loads.
• Create CAD models and fabrication drawings with weldments, sheet metal, and machined parts.
• Collaborate with electrical, thermal, and systems teams to integrate mechanical designs.
• Lead design reviews and drive manufacturability, cost reduction, and reliability improvements.
• Develop BOMs, specifications, test plans, and ECOs; manage lifecycle and obsolescence planning.
