Job summary

Tufts Medicine seeks a Billing Specialist to support revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, and payments processing. You will verify eligibility, handle payer follow-ups, resolve denials, and assist patients with payment options.

This onsite role begins with 180 days of on-site training at Lowell, MA, with potential remote flexibility after training. Ideal candidates will have at least two years in medical billing, knowledge of CPT/ICD coding, and experience with Epic HB

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in medical billing and collections for a medical services provider or payer.
• Epic HB Billing, PB Billing or Insurance Follow-Up experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs day-to-day activity to ensure billing information is complete and accurate; billing to payers is transmitted timely.
• Conducts follow-up on outstanding receivables and takes action for resolution.
• Researches and handles claim rejections, determines fixes, and escalates when needed.
• Reviews and processes appeals with supporting documentation.
• Resolves denials and contractual adjustments to maximize reimbursement.
• Maintains knowledge of payer requirements and CPT/ICD coding guidelines.
