Job summary

USLI seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Claims Counsel and Coverage Specialist, providing guidance on complex litigation and coverage analysis across claims. You will oversee coverage and litigation matters and issue legal opinions to claims personnel.

Responsibilities include drafting letters, managing outside counsel, and negotiating settlements within authority. Strong research, communication, and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate required.
• 1–5 years of law firm/litigation experience and/or 3–7 years of claims handling experience.
• Good working knowledge of Westlaw for legal research.

Responsibilities

• Serve as internal claims counsel to support claims adjusters.
• Identify, evaluate, and analyze coverage issues.
• Draft comprehensive coverage and denial letters to policyholders.
• Manage outside counsel in litigated matters.
