Job summary

Wilson Elser, LLP is seeking an experienced Claims Management & Coverage Counsel to join a national team. The attorney will handle sophisticated claims management, coverage analysis, and risk assessment across professional and specialty liability lines.

Role involves managing complex matters from inception to resolution, collaborating with clients, carriers, and outside counsel to shape litigation, settlement, and risk mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 5+ years of legal practice experience in the insurance area.
• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage denial letters is strongly preferred.
• Superior written and oral communication skills required; strong negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a claims caseload from notification through resolution.
• Evaluate coverage, liability and damages issues for complex professional, employment, real estate, and D&O matters.
• Draft reservation of rights and coverage denial letters.
• Monitor claims and develop handling and resolution strategies.
• Coordinate and manage outside counsel for optimal resolutions.
• Prepare reports with exposure analysis and reserve recommendations.
• Interface with clients, carriers and outside counsel regularly.
