Job summary

RLI seeks an experienced Claim Counsel to manage coverage and bad faith litigation nationwide, providing strategic legal guidance to the Claim Department, reviewing filings, and coordinating with outside counsel to resolve disputes efficiently.

The role requires a J.D. with 8+ years of experience, cross-jurisdiction knowledge, and the ability to draft policy language and support product development. Hybrid work arrangements and a comprehensive benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience handling coverage and bad faith litigation under commercial general liability and/or first-party property policies.
• Experience with multiple US jurisdictions and policy drafting preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to the Claim Department on coverage issues and litigation management.
• Manage outside coverage counsel and review filings and discovery responses.
• Lead efforts to resolve coverage disputes fairly, expeditiously, and economically.
• Develop policy language and support product development initiatives.
