Job summary

Applied Engineering, a Midwest-based engineering consultancy, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer specializing in power distribution. The role focuses on designing low to medium voltage distribution equipment, researching components, and delivering engineering documentation for manufacturing and certification.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams to ensure reliable, compliant, and cost-effective solutions while supporting projects through

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 1–2+ years in electrical engineering or power distribution design.
• Experience with low/medium voltage AC systems preferred.
• Ability to interpret electrical ratings and system requirements.
• Experience selecting components for applications.
• Experience with power distribution equipment design.
• Familiarity with circuit breakers, contactors, cables, terminal blocks, relays.

Responsibilities

• Design and support low and medium voltage power distribution products from concept through manufacturing, testing, and implementation.
• Research and select electrical components based on requirements and standards.
• Develop electrical designs, schematics, and technical documents for manufacturing, testing, certification, and customers.
• Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, quality, and cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.
• Support product validation, prototype testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
• Contribute to design of switchgear, switchboards, transfer switches, load banks, generators, and energy storage systems.
