Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an AHIMA or AAPC accredited coding program with core courses.
• Current coding credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H).
• 2+ years coding/abstracting experience.
• 2 years Emergency and Ancillary facility coding experience.
• ICD-10 coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Review documentation to determine reason for visit and codes.
• Provide documentation feedback to providers as needed.
• Enter data into encoder/abstracting systems.
• Meet KPI timelines for medical record coding.
• Support revenue cycle through coding/charge validation tasks.
• Adhere to AHIMA coding standards and guidelines.
• Participate in department meetings and education events.
