Job summary

LPL Solar is seeking a Drone Pilot / Surveyor to support utility-scale solar EPC projects remotely. You will perform aerial data collection, mapping, surveying support, and construction documentation using UAS, survey equipment, and mapping software, with extensive travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; higher degree preferred.
• FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate required.
• Experience operating drones for surveying, mapping, engineering, or construction.
• Knowledge of surveying principles, coordinate systems, elevations, benchmarks, and construction layout.
• Experience with GPS/GNSS and RTK survey equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans, grading plans, site layouts, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Strong data-management and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct UAS flights on large solar sites per FAA rules.
• Collect high-res imagery and survey data for mapping and progress.
• Create Ortho mosaics, DTMs, DSMs, and point clouds.
• Support GPS/GNSS, RTK, robotic total stations, and survey tools.
• Maintain survey control throughout construction.
• Coordinate with project teams to determine data requirements.
• Compare field data with IFC drawings and project specs.
• Maintain flight logs and project files.
