Job summary

Integrated Management Strategies, LLC (IMS) is seeking an experienced Medical Coder for our healthcare consulting practice. This fully remote role supports DoD medical coding across multiple specialties from anywhere in the United States.

A high standard of documentation and confidentiality is required to protect PHI/PII and comply with HIPAA. The ideal candidate holds AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 2+ years of DoD coding experience, US citizenship, and the ability to obtain a DoD security

Qualifications

• Active coding certification from AHIMA or AAPC (CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT) required.
• ICD-10 certified; 2+ years DoD medical coding experience.
• Minimum 97% accuracy in coding.
• US Citizenship; ability to obtain DoD security clearance.
• Experience with DoD Systems (MHS Genesis, EM360, or JLV) preferred.
• Experience in multiple specialties within medical coding (e.g., Behavioral Health, Cardiology, ER, etc.).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10 CM, E/M, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers and units per documentation.
• Adhere to multi-specialty coding standards and systems.
• Process encounters within SLA and address deficiencies identified.
• Review audits and implement corrections after adjudication.
• Complete training on government systems and annual updates.
• Meet or exceed weekly productivity and quality targets.
• Collaborate with team and follow directions from Site/Project Manager.
