Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of engineers in delivering electrical distribution design and construction packages from 4kV through 35kV. The role blends field and office work, focusing on quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

You will use GIS/CAD tools for calculations and prepare BOMs, cost estimates, and permit documents while mentoring junior staff. Occasional travel is expected to support local utilities.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of prior relevant experience is required.
• Experience with NESC Standards, AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and Bluebeam and/or Adobe.
• Experience with distribution design tools such as BOUD, Pole Foreman, Spida-Calc, O-Calc, DDS and SAP
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to review other engineer designs with detailed eye for errors.
• Some travel (15-25%) and field work may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Lead team of 3-8 engineers to develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
• Oversee onboarding and day-to-day assignments of direct reports.
• Serve as technical lead for engineers and designers, training juniors.
• Maintain project scope, schedule, and budget under Engineering Manager.
• Coordinate with Client to review work progress and requirements.
• Ensure compliance with safety, design, and quality standards.
• Develop permitting documents for AHJs and coordinate with permitted agencies.
• Travel to sites and customer meetings as needed.
• Perform engineering calculations including pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, and voltage drop.
