Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. You will design and review engineering packages for overhead, underground, URD, Make Ready and street-light projects, coordinate with clients, and ensure the highest standards of quality.

You’ll gain experience through NESC knowledge, GIS design training, and field data collection to support accurate work packages.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial) from ABET-accredited program.
• 4+ years of relevant experience required.
• Background in National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
• Knowledge of structural analysis, guying calcs, cable pulling calcs, protective devices coordination, and electrical demand/fault currents.

Responsibilities

• Design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers; perform design tasks and QC within the group.
• Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and Work Management systems.
• Coordinate with engineers and design leads on schedule and budget; manage scope and quality of work.
• Review engineering design packages with clients and perform planning and follow-up tasks.
• Perform scope analysis and maintain schedule adherence to client priorities.
• Initiate process improvements to drive efficiency and high-quality deliverables.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and field requirements for large design packages.
• Work both in the field and office; travel to client sites as needed (reimbursed).
• Be prepared for customer-facing activities and meetings as required.
