Job summary

Leidos is seeking an Associate Distribution Engineer/Designer to develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems, both overhead and underground, for utility clients. You will collaborate with clients to ensure high-quality outcomes and perform calculations for pole loading, spans, and voltage drop.

The role involves field and office work with possible travel; strong communication and GIS/AutoCAD skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 0+ years of experience.
• Experience with NESC Standards, ESRI, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and GIS a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) required.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Ability to utilize a personal vehicle; some travel anticipated.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work; outdoor environments.
• Valid U.S. driver's license; some local/regional travel expected.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations for pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, and voltage drop.
• Provide engineering support during construction, including post-construction reviews.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
• Coordinate conflicting utilities and develop large design packages for dense urban projects.
