Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers who will develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems, both overhead and underground, for utility clients.

The role involves reviewing client requirements, performing structural and electrical calculations, and supporting construction with engineering oversight. A blend of field and office work is expected, with local travel and remote-working options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with distribution projects from kickoff through design.
• Proficiency with NESC.
• Valid US driver’s license and willingness to travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations for pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop, and flicker.
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation planning.
• Coordinate with utilities and manage large design packages in dense urban environments.
