Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in Michigan to deliver electric utility design engineering with a focus on quality and client collaboration. You will develop work packages using GIS and design software, coordinate with clients, and help ensure high-quality project deliverables.

The role blends field and office work, with travel within the Michigan territory on an as-needed basis, and opportunities for professional growth including PE/PMP pathways and development programs.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of prior relevant experience in electric utility design.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred.
  • Experience working directly with an electric utility or utility consulting.
  • Knowledge and proficiency with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform design engineering for Leidos electric utility customers.
  • Develop work packages for OH, UG, URD, Make Ready, and Street Light projects using GIS and design tools.
  • Manage the scope, schedule, and budget of assigned work.
  • Design tools such as Pole Foreman, SOCKET, Spida-Calc, DDS.
  • Review engineering design packages with clients.
  • Coordinate field data collection and client follow‑ups.
