Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Distribution Engineer/Designer to develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems. The role involves reviewing client scopes, performing structural and electrical calculations, and providing on-site support during construction.

You will coordinate with utilities and manage design packages for complex urban cables and conduits. The candidate will join Leidos Power Delivery Services, with travel expectations and potential field data collection

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial preferred; higher experience or certs may count in lieu of degree.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in distribution projects from kickoff through design.
• Experience with utility reliability projects and Customer interaction/documentation.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems for Leidos utility clients.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations (wood pole loading, guying, conductor sag/tension, voltage drop, flicker).
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation using engineering principles.
• Coordinate with utilities and field requirements, develop large design packages for complex projects in urban environments.
