Job summary

Leidos is seeking Distribution Engineers & Designers in New Jersey who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. You will independently develop design and construction work packages for overhead and underground distribution systems, review client scopes, and perform calculations for spans, sag, and voltage drop.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior relevant experience is required.
• Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience may be considered.
• Experience with the execution of distribution projects from kickoff through design approval.
• Experience with utility reliability projects
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC
• Valid U.S. driver’s license; some travel may be required
• Willingness to perform field and office work; occasional customer-site data collection

Responsibilities

• Independently develop design and construction work packages for electrical distribution systems.
• Review client-provided work and assess scope requirements.
• Perform engineering calculations including pole loading, guying, sag/tension, and voltage drop.
• Provide engineering support during construction and post-construction reviews.
• Conduct root cause analysis of outages and mitigation.
• Coordinate with utilities and develop large design packages for dense urban environments
